BOV?
« on: February 07, 2010, 07:02:54 PM »

I have an extra HKS SQV BOV that I was thinking about using on the 22rte.  How do you guys have your BOV hooked up?

i dont have one installed on my truck but i do know that the BOV needs to plumb back into the intake system, after your AFM and before the turbo.

Hook the smaller "signal" line to the intake plenum -- it should see vacuum as well as boost. If you run an AFM, hook the vent line into the tube that runs between the AFM and turbo as MT_turbotoy suggests, as the AFM has already "counted" that air and venting to atmo will cause your motor to stumble a bit when you get back on the gas. If you run a MAP sensor instead of an AFM you can just vent to atmo. As far as mounting the BOV itself, I've always mounted mine close to the TB, but you have a lot of flexibility, so just mount it where it's most convenient.

Not using AFM on this one.  So there's no stock BOV right?  What does the stock system do to let off pressure?  Also, can I just hook up an MBC inline with the wastegate vacuum.  Only looking to go around 7-8 pounds

Break.

OK, not really, or at least not immediately. But it doesn't do anything to vent it -- it comes back as surge, and interferes with the operation of the turbo.

Yes. Hook it up like this:

Hmm, the stock turbo system is missing a few things then.  I'm going to rig up an intercooler so I'll just put the BOV in the first section of pipe by the TB.  Just by chance I have a celica w/ 3sgte so I have a spare ct26 to rebuild and throw on too.  I'm such a collector of parts that I already have everything I need before I even bought the truck:  turbo, BOV, IC, MBC, etc.
